Hot air balloon rides in Somerset
Balloon flights across Somerset
Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury Tor, the Mendip Hills and the Levels – Somerset is made to be seen from the air.
Somerset is our home county and some of the most beautiful ballooning country in Britain. From the lakes of the Chew Valley to the limestone cliffs of Cheddar Gorge, and from the Mendip Hills down across the flat, glittering Somerset Levels to Glastonbury Tor, every flight is different.
We fly from launch sites right across the county, so wherever you are there’s one close by. Morning flights often float above mist lying in the valleys and over the Levels; evening flights finish in that low golden light Somerset is famous for.
Choose the site nearest you, or the view you most want to see. If the weather means we can’t fly from your first choice, we’ll offer another site nearby so you don’t miss out.
What you’ll see over Somerset
- Cheddar Gorge & the Mendips – England’s largest gorge and the hills around it
- Glastonbury Tor – The Tor and St Michael’s tower rising out of the Levels
- Wells Cathedral – England’s smallest city and its great cathedral
- The Somerset Levels – Rhynes, wetlands and willow – and morning mist
- Chew Valley & Blagdon lakes – Two lakes set in the hills south of Bristol
- The Bristol Channel – On clear days, views out to the coast and across to Wales
Balloons fly with the wind, so no two flights follow the same path – your pilot will point out the landmarks as you go.
