Hot air balloon rides in Bath
Balloon flights over Bath
Lift off beside the Royal Crescent and float over one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
There’s nowhere quite like Bath from the air. The whole city is a World Heritage Site, and from a balloon you see how its honey-coloured Georgian terraces, crescents and squares fit together in the bowl of the Avon valley – something you can never appreciate from the ground.
We launch from Royal Victoria Park, right next to the Royal Crescent, so the Crescent and the Circus are beneath you within moments of take-off. Depending on the wind you may drift over the Abbey and Pulteney Bridge, along the river and canal, or out over the rolling hills that surround the city.
When the wind isn’t right for a city launch we use our other Bath sites at the Pumpkin Patch on Newbridge Road or the Maize Field by the Globe Inn roundabout, or our Keynsham site between Bath and Bristol – so you still get to fly.
What you’ll see over Bath
- The Royal Crescent & the Circus – Bath’s famous Georgian architecture from above
- Bath Abbey & Pulteney Bridge – The heart of the old city and the River Avon
- Royal Victoria Park – The park and botanical gardens where we take off
- The Kennet & Avon Canal – Winding east out of the city through the valley
- The hills around Bath – Lansdown, Kelston Round Hill and Prior Park
Balloons fly with the wind, so no two flights follow the same path – your pilot will point out the landmarks as you go.

Questions
Flying in Bath
Where do Bath balloon flights take off?
We launch from Royal Victoria Park, next to the Royal Crescent (///twig.entry.still), from the Pumpkin Patch on the A4 Newbridge Road opposite the ROOTS allotments (///crest.magic.sharp), or from the Maize Field just off the Globe Inn roundabout (///senses.poets.shrimps). We’ll text you which one the day before.
Will I fly over the Royal Crescent?
From Royal Victoria Park the Crescent is right beside the launch field, so you see it on almost every flight. After that the wind decides where we go – often over the city or out along the Avon valley.
Where do I park?
For Royal Victoria Park, use Charlotte Street car park (Charlotte St, Bath BA1 2NE), a short walk from the meeting point. For the Pumpkin Patch, park at Newbridge Park & Ride (Bath BA1 3NB). Allow extra time on sunrise flights.
Can we have a private flight over Bath?
Yes. Premier, Proposal and Private Group flights can all launch from our Bath sites, and you can ask for Bath when you book.
